Downtown Homewood will host Union Street Gallery's new exhibit, Sync Visitors can view a one-of-a-kind art collection from a community of talented artists throughout the Chicagoland area.  The Gallery opened March 15 and will be open every weekend through April 7.  Gallery Times through April 7

The League of Women Voters of the Homewood-Flossmoor Area is sponsoring a candidate forum for the Flossmoor
Elementary School District 161  on Tuesday evening, April 2 at 7:00 PM at Parker Junior High School  (2810 School Street) in Flossmoor. There are five candidates competing for four vacant seats.  The forum is open to the public and all residents of the SD161 area are encouraged to participate. The Leagues of Women Voters of the Homewood-Flossmoor Area and the Park Forest Area and the Student Government Association of Prairie State College are co-sponsoring a candidate forum for the six candidates running to fill the two vacant seats on the Prairie State College Board. The candidates vying to fill the two positions are: Charles Derringer, Joelle Mulhearn, Margaret Donohue, Linda Uzzureau, Mary Madden-Cifelli and Jacqueline Agee.

 

The general election is Tuesday, April 9. The two Leagues will provide an impartial moderator that is not a resident of the Prairie State College District to coordinate the event.

The Prairie State College candidate forum will be held on Thursday, April 4 at 7:00 PM in the auditorium of the college located at Halsted Street and Vollmer Road in Chicago Heights.

 

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. ID BRACELET PROGRAM

The Village offers ID bracelets for seniors and disabled persons.  To receive an ID bracelet, the individual must complete an application that includes the following information:  full name, address, emergency contact, current medications, physician's information, and current health problems.  This information, along with a digital photograph is entered into a secure database. 

 

Bracelets are issued by appointment only at a cost of $5.00. Call the Police Records Department at (708) 206-3420, press option #3 to make an appointment.

Green Tip for Spring

Spring welcomes new plans for landscaping and new mulch. When shopping for mulch, try to keep in mind where the material comes from. Some types, like cypress, may
be sourced directly from trees in sensitive natural areas like the Everglades. Alternative

products made from scrap or reclaimed wood are much better for the environment, and your

yard will still look great!
