Greetings!

Presenters

Workplace Fatalities Event Presenters: Zachary Lyseck &
Lt. Mark DiLuzio

We were thrilled with the turnout for the Lehigh Valley Safety Committee's Aspects and Realities of Workplace Fatalities event held on May 16.  For those who couldn't attend, the event featured expert perspectives and meaningful discussion on the toll a workplace fatality takes on the entire organization.  To view a list of participants, please click here.  The presentation, meals, and all materials were provided at no cost thanks to the generosity of the following corporate sponsors: Brandenburg, CSI Material Handling, Smooth-On, Inc., ASSE Chapter of the Lehigh Valley, EHD and Lehigh Valley Plastics.

Many of the participants walked away from the event vowing to review their emergency action plans and those who haven't implemented plans vowed to develop one.  All in all, the goal of the committee was met; to make the Lehigh Valley safer for employers and employees.  For those interested in attending future presentations or joining the committee, please click here to download the LVSC flyer and calendar of events.  To view additional event images, please click here.  Finally, one of the event participants wanted us to share a link for free training resources from FEMA.  Please click here to learn more.

Imagine an employer with no awareness of OSHA.  As your mind wanders, can you recall all the myths and misinformation you have heard over the years as it pertains to regulatory standards?  Have you ever actually read the OSHA standards?  Do you know what a Sub Part is?  Do you know the difference between 29 CFR 1910 and 1926? Do you know what you need to know?

Too often awareness of OSHA comes at the end of an inspection.  Absolutions of the uninformed do little to correct the issues discovered during the inspection.  The reality is that the regulatory standards are the minimum expectations of safety practices and environments that should already exist in the workplace.  The intention of any standard is not to create the criteria for citations and fines, but rather to establish a minimum of safety.

If you don't know what you should know about OSHA standards, then maybe it is time to find out.  Consider investing ten hours of time to discover what you need to know while dispelling the myths associated with OSHA standards. Functional information is the best way to establish and foster a safety culture in your workplace.  Attendance and completion of a OSHA Ten Hour Outreach Training will provide you with basic awareness and specifics to implement in the quest for a safe and healthy workplace.  Please consider joining us on June 26-27 for the OSHA Ten Hour General Industry Outreach Training program.  Please click here to learn more.
