April 2013

Greetings!

According to a new study by OfficeTeam, 94% of senior managers said their administrative professional is important to their success at work.  Ninety-one percent felt that should be recognized for their contributions on Administrative Professionals Day (April 24).  As we put the finishing touches on our Administrative Professionals Day program, we would like to say thank you to all the professionals who make their offices work and thank you to the companies who are joining us in recognizing and celebrating their contributions.

ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS:
Maximize their Potential and Increase Productivity
Damian J. Dinan

In today's fast paced business world, it is easy for managers and executives to feel that they are independent and no longer need the assistance of an administrative professional. After all, with all the new technology of smart phones, Internet based teleconferencing, etc., one would think an administrative assistant's necessity has diminished. That couldn't be further from the truth.

According to the findings from the Administrative Professional Skills 2011 Benchmarking Survey, completed by the IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals), "[Since 2005, IAAP has noted] a significant increase in its members' job responsibilities." And "that trend may have transitioned into a new normal." Additionally, 52% of administrative professionals report they support three or more people, which is also an increasing trend.

In the same survey, 77% of respondents stated they are responsible for making purchasing decisions and spend around $15,000 annually.
