Considering PeriOperative Nursing?

PeriOperative nurses, as described by Johnson & Johnson's Campaign for Nursing, are the "advocates for patients before, during and immediately after surgery."  They work in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases of surgery in hospital surgical departments, day-surgery units (also called ambulatory surgery), clinics and physicians' offices.

AORN estimates that there are approximately 160,000 licensed PeriOperative nurses practicing in the United States. This number is expected to continue to rise through 2018.  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, PeriOperative nursing is projected to yield a 22% employment increase during the 2008 to 2018 decade.

For nurses interested in obtaining a certification in PeriOperative nursing, please consider our online course beginning in January.  To learn more, please click on the link in the Upcoming Training section.  Finally, as the year comes to a close, we wanted to thank you for your support of our programs and wish you and yours a warm holiday season and happy new year.
