Walk With Us On June 7
2015 is the 10th anniversary of our very first community walk! Join us as we celebrate this milestone and conclude Healthy Waltham's 10th anniversary celebration. It's also National Trails Day weekend. Please join us for our upcoming walk:
Waltham Walks at Stonehurst

Sunday, June 7

1:00-3:00 PM

Meet at Stonehurst, the Robert Treat Paine Estate, for guided walks led by our friends from the Waltham Land Trust and Stonehurst. Enjoy one of the prettiest spots in Waltham, and walk for your good health! The mansion will be open and light refreshments will be provided. Free! We hope to see you there.

Stonehurst, the Paine Estate, is the location of our walk co-sponsored with the Waltham Land Trust, Stonehurst, and the City of Waltham.
WHS Health Fair
Healthy Waltham recently participated in Waltham High School's 5th annual health fair! We love doing this fair every year to talk to students about healthy lifestyles. This year we repeated our popular "Rethink Your Drink" message with a healthy reduced-sugar beverage: seltzer with a splash of juice. We also conducted a healthy food access survey about barriers to eating healthy. To see more photos from the health fair, click here. You can read more about the WHS health fair in the Waltham News Tribune here.

Healthy Eating Unit at the Waltham Family School
Healthy Waltham recently concluded our healthy eating unit at the Waltham Family School. We focused on basic nutrition information and ways to get healthy ingredients into our food--more vegetables, more whole grains, less sugar, fat and salt. The students loved it! The class concludes with a potluck lunch where students bring in a dish to share and describe how they made it healthy. You can see more photos here.

Healthy Waltham Display at WPL
For the past few years, Healthy Waltham has created an annual display in the glass display case on the ground floor of the Waltham Public Library. This year, we took the opportunity to showcase the photos from our teen photo voice project. For this project coordinated by Healthy Waltham, teens met weekly to take photographs, discuss them, and create a presentation on the theme of "safety." To see some of the wonderful work done by this group, please check our Healthy Waltham Flickr photo gallery here.

Best Wishes to Judy Fallows
Judy Fallows, Healthy Waltham's Executive Director for
nearly 9 years, has returned to her "roots" as a garden educator. We were delighted to read about Judy's new role as Garden Coordinator for the Watertown Public Schools. See what Judy's doing now in this article in Wicked Local Watertown.

Thank You Currents on the Charles
