Spring Events are Coming!

Spring is a busy time with many events and health fairs! We love to talk to folks in the community and help kids learn about healthy habits like eating lots of fruits and vegetables and getting outside and being active! We had a great time at the Plympton Family Wellness Night. We talked to kids about the food groups and "My Plate", handed out apples and bananas courtesy of Hannaford, and danced the Macarena in vegetable costumes! More photos are on Facebook!

Our interns from Brandeis University, Jae and Clay, talk to kids about eating fruits and vegetables at the Plympton Family Wellness Night.
PTO Wellness Committee Meeting
This past fall, Healthy Waltham launched the PTO Wellness Committee for Waltham elementary school PTOs. Our first meeting brought together members of the school community for a presentation on some of the ways parents and teachers are keeping kids active, as well as some other opportunities for Waltham families.
Stanley School's Mrs. Larsson and two of her students.

Our next meeting will focus on school gardens - what are they, how can they be used, and how would a school go about starting one. We will also talk about the future of the Wellness Group: where should we go from here?

Wednesday, April 2
7-8:30 PM
LOCATION: Stanley Elementary School Library
250 South St.
TOPIC: School Gardens

If you are a member of an elementary school community in Waltham we hope you will join us! If you would like more information, please contact us at info@healthy-waltham.org.

For a preview of our conversation, check out this great video about the Stanley school garden!
