Summer Days in Waltham
Hope you are having a great summer! Our gardening programs have been going well and and we just had our first board meeting of the new Healthy Waltham Board of Directors! We are also re-vamping our website and looking to expand our walking resources for great Waltham walks. Did you know that the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) has developed a new website with great outdoor resources for kids and families? Check it out here! Enjoy the last weeks of summer!

Come Walk with Us!
Now is a great time to get outside and discover some of Waltham's many walking trails. We are pleased to announce we have teamed up with the Waltham Land Trust and the Appalachian Mountain Club to offer some great opportunities to take a walk and enjoy nature. Perfect for families, get out and get some exercise and meet fellow walking enthusiasts. Please join us!
- Wednesday, Aug. 14, 10:00-11:00 AM - Waltham Common Walk leaving from the Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center, 564 Main St. Join us on a short stroll around the historic Waltham Common. Led by Waltham Land Trust.
- Tuesday, Aug. 20, 7:00-8:30 PM - Enjoy a beautiful 1 mile walk through one of the prettiest areas in South Waltham, with many water views. Meet on Charles River Road off South Street. Please see map below. This walk is led by Healthy Waltham.
- Saturday, Aug. 24, 1:00-3:00 PM - Western Greenway Walk led by Waltham Land Trust. Park/meet at Kennedy Middle School parking lot, Jack's Way. Visit Shady's Pond and our cool nature-viewing blind on this trek that departs from the middle school, goes along the YMCA property and on the new trail by Bishops Forest, to Shady's and back.

Health Fair on August 14
Join Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center, Healthy Waltham, and many others at a Health Fair in celebration of National Health Center Week! The fair will be held in the parking lot at the Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center, 564 Main St., Waltham. DATE: Wednesday, August 14 TIME: 9:00 AM-Noon PLACE: Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center, 564 Main St., Waltham
There will be kids' activities, tips for staying healthy, healthy snacks, health screenings, and a guided walk by the Waltham Land Trust around the Waltham Common. The walk will leave from the Health Center at 10:00 AM. Hope to see you there & help us spread the word, download the POSTER!

Special Offer for Waltham Families - Free Back to School Celebration Aug. 20
Register for a FREE day of activities for kids 5-17 at the TD Bank Garden! This popular special event will be held on August 20. Every kid attending also gets a free backpack! Now being opened up to Waltham families. You can stop by the Health Fair at the Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center on August 14 to register. Requirements are a photo ID and a Mass Health card. We'll be at the Waltham Farmers Market 8/24 & 9/14
The Waltham Farmers Market is happening at the Sovereign Bank parking lot, corner of Moody and Main streets, every Saturday until Nov. 9 from 9:30 AM-2:00 PM. Healthy Waltham will have a table there on August 24 and September 14, so stop by and say hello and enjoy the market!
