Sandon Fisher
JEDC Program Intern
Assists with research, reporting, data collection and analysis.
Spent previous three summers as an intern with the Office of Governor Parnell.
Attends Liberty University School of Law.
Pursuing career in Contract Law.
Co-captain of the undefeated, State Champion 2008 JDHS State football team.

Eric Bookless
JEDC Summer Camp Intern
Develops and leads STEM camps and performs miscelaneous programming projects.
Sophomore at University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Pursuing a career in Mechanical Engineering.
JDHS 1st in class of 2012.
Fluent in French and has knowledge of basic Southern Tutchone.
Loves to surprise the staff with interesting, bubbling experiments.

Fly to Learn

Campers learned physics of flight, operated an X-plane flight simulator, toured the cockpit of a Boeing 737 and flew in a Cessna 172 Skyhawk.
Advanced Rocketry in Ketchikan - sponsored by First Bank
4 girls and 6 boys applied physics and engineering to design, build, analyze and test their own rockets using state of the art CAD software, electronic altimeters and remote air-borne cameras. Watch a launch here.
App Camp
In our first ever App Camp, campers wrote code, designed their own smartphone app and learned how to upload their own creations to the Apple Store. Another is planned for fall!
GeoCaching and GPS
Campers learned about GPS technology, hunted for caches, and heard from an ADFG biologist about the use of GPS in tracking black bear in his profession.
FIRST Robotics - sponsored by PND Engineers 36 bright minds created, programmed, and tested LEGO robots, honing their mechanical engineering and computer programming skills. Campers can go on to compete in statewide FIRST Competitions. Learn more about the upcoming season here. Sun to Sea Campers explored the exciting professions of NOAA Scientists learning about coastal marine life, weather forecasting, ocean acidification, oil spills and spent a day on the water conducting experiments and viewing the ocean floor with underwater ROVs.
SeaGlide in Katsitsna Bay - sponsored by AUVSI and the US Department of Defense.
Teachers learned alongside students designing, building and operating Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) in this intense week of marine architecture, power systems, propulsion & programming.
