CITRUS CURED SALMON. 

 

1 Side of Salmon

1 Packet of Maldon Salt

Zest of three oranges

Zest of One Lime

Zest of One Lemon

15 Coriander Seeds

250g Demerera Sugar

Put all your ingredients bar the salmon into a food processor and whizz up until all have been incorporated into the salt.  Lay the salmon skin side down in a plastic container.  Press the salt onto the flesh and lightly cover with a layer of clingfilm.  The salt will start to extract the moisture so  drain this off every half a day.  After three days scrape off the salt, give the salmon a wipe and carve into thin slices. Serve with a wedge of lemon and some buttered brown bread.  Delish!

 What's new at Lockwoods?

Firstly, huge congratulations to Mimi and Marco on the birth of their son Filipko, and welcome to Andrew Forbes who is filling Mimi's shoes whilst she is on maternity leave. Mimi will still be around the restaurant, but with a pram for now, so don't ask her for a coffee!

 

I am delighted that my Sister has joined the business, returning to her northern roots after eight years in London, to develop Lockwoods on Location our outside catering and event management business.

 

We are now buying Grand Reserve steak from Country Foods, a local family business. This is a premium matured, naturally grazed, beef range which conforms to the highest standards of animal welfare and farming practices, so we hope you like it.  

 

We have been included in the Good Food Guide 2013 (four years running), thanks to all who voted for us!

 

Finally, believe it or not the Christmas season is creeping up on us, so be sure you have made your bookings soon. We will be closed on 25th and 26th December, and from 1st January to Friday 4th January. We will be open from Thursday 27th December to Monday 31st December (open for lunch and dinner on Sunday, and all day on Monday).

 

Anyone eating in the restaurant during November or December will be given a voucher offering 10% off a meal from our a la carte menu in January/February!

 

We have an exciting Christmas and New Year lined up, so can't wait to see you!

Wednesday 14th to Saturday 24th November Game Fortnight.

Celebrate all that is great about local Yorkshire Game. A special menu will be running throughout with lots of specials also available on the blackboards.

Christmas Party Nights with Mutton Chops.   
Live music from Richard "Mutton Chops", bright and cheerful in a jazzy style, excellent for Christmas get togethers and parties. Seasonal specials menu and a great party atmosphere.
Thursday 13th and 20th December - Festive Table Magic with Bob Mc Bratney.               Bring along your family and friends to enjoy our great festive a la carte menu while being entertained at your table by extraordinary illusions and tricks. A magical and fun evening.
Sunday 16th December - Christmas Sunday Lunch with Mike Westerman.   
Relax and let us take the strain. Enjoy our sumptuous Sunday Lunch Menu accompanied by jazz vocalist Mike Westerman and his band.
Sunday 23rd December - Sunday Lunch. 

A treat for the whole family with our Observer recommended Sunday lunch. 

Monday 24th December - Christmas Eve (open all day).   
We will be serving food from 5pm to 9pm on Christmas Eve, with our early evening menu available between 5pm and 6.30pm, and childrens menu also available. 
Monday 31st December - New Years Eve. 

Between 5pm and 7pm we will be running our full a la carte menu. Children are welcome between these times and a childrens menu will be available. Between 7pm and 10pm we will be running our fantastic New Years Eve set menu, and also offering a great selection of Champagnes to make your night go with a real pop. All tables must be vacated in 2 hours (sorry there are lots of customers to keep happy!).
