ARTIE YELLOWHORSE TRUNK JEWELRY SHOW -- MAY 11 AND 12 AND TERRY O'BRIEN WITH HER BEADED AMULET BAG NECKLACES -- MAY 12 YellowHorseShow
We are so glad to welcome Artie Yellowhorse (Navajo) this spring for a TWO DAY trunk jewelry show. This way, you have more opportunity to make it in for one of the days...or even make it in for both! All jewelry will be on display for the full two days and Artie will be present to meet and greet each day from noon - 4:00 p.m.

Artie and her daughters Desiree and Leilani have been very excited about the beautiful American-mined turquoise from Nevada mines and other new stones including an especially deep blue lapis around which they have been designing jewelry. Be sure to make it in to see all of the new stone settings and designs in addition to the classic "Sunrise" silver jewelry line many of you enjoy.

Take a look at our current selection of Artie Yellowhorse Designs on our online store and learn more about the Yellowhorse family.

We also very much look forward to welcoming back Terrill Hooper O'Brien (Mohawk) who will join us on Thursday, May 12 from noon - 4 p.m. Terry will share a beading demonstration, her latest in beaded amulet bag necklaces... and of course her stories that light up the room! Stories include her travels and the special people she meets along the way, and also the insights and inspiration that seem to be never-ending and infuse each and every bag she designs and creates. Terry has named and numbered every bag she has made and she is now well over the 600s in bag creation. In every 50th bag, she includes a strawberry theme in honor of the traditional strawberry ceremonies and festivals of her Mohawk Nation. See Terry's current work on our online store and learn more about Terry O'Brien on our Artist Bio page

SAD NEWS OF THE PASSING OF ROLLIE GRANDBOIS
(TURTLE MOUNTAIN CHIPPEWA)Rollie
We are very saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Rollie Grandbois (Turtle Mountain Chippewa). We extend our deepest sympathy to Rollie's family and close friends at this sad time.

Rollie was an artist with the gift of capturing both beauty and power in his sculpture. A lifetime artist who sculpted for more than 35 years, Rollie was not only well-recognized for his sculpture, but also was looked to as a leader in the world of American Indian art. Rollie Grandbois was the founder of Southwest Stone Carving Symposium. He inspired and brought artists together through programs and workshops, and helped to reinvigorate the art of sculpture. We are thankful that his work graces the Shop's Sculpture Garden, for all of his support and words of wisdom, and for his contributions of time and energy to the benefit of the arts that he so loved.

Rollie Grandbois's significant presence will be missed by so many throughout the American Indian art community - artists, patrons, galleries, museums and more across the nation and beyond.

Article and memorial service in Jemez Daily Post.

Flying Through the Abstract, Eagle of Colorado Marble by Rollie Grandbois (Turtle Mountain Chippewa)

"Many of my themes incorporate a stylized eagle, singing a song of freedom or carrying our prayers to the Creator. This piece combines the contemporary on one side with the traditional on the other. It reminds us of how you can fly through one era to the next. It also represents all of the changes I've seen in my years on this earth."

May Rollie's life live on through memories for all he has touched, through continued interest in sculpture and through his works of art found in collections across the world.
