We hope everyone is enjoying the greenery, the colors and, of course, the warmer temperatures. The National Cherry Blossom Festival events are from March 20 - April 17 with the peak bloom predicted earlier this year, perhaps even this weekend! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL AWARD WINNERS AT THE HEARD MUSEUM GUILD INDIAN FAIR & MARKET!AwardWinners
Congratulations to all award winners at the Annual Heard Indian Market this month! This is truly one of the top shows in the nation for American Indian artists to showcase their work and we are so happy for all of the award winners, many of whom are represented at the Shop! The top award for Best of Show went to Glendora Fragua (Jemez) and Jody Naranjo (Santa Clara) for their collaborative piece entitled "Pueblo Luck." We're so happy for this award to two top potters of the Southwest! We've enjoyed carrying Glendora's work here at the Shop for many years and are amazed that she continues to constantly innovate and be excited about developing new designs, slips, polishing finishes and pottery shapes. Learn more about Glendora and her pottery.

Congratulations to the many other award winning artists, including Earl PlummerCharlene Sanchez ReanoCliff Fragua, Kathy WhitmanMark Fischer and more. See a complete list of the award winners here

NAVAJO BEADS - AN ALL TIME CLASSICNavajoBeads
Just about every jewelry drawer should include a set of handmade, sterling silver Navajo beads. Often referred to as "Navajo Pearls," they are classic and contemporary at the same time. Wear them with denim, to work, or with a black evening dress - they are timeless and just simply work with any outfit. We have a wonderful selection right now from a number of artists - different lengths, stamped and plain silver, graduated or all the same size -- there should be a necklace that's just right for you. If you can't make it in, we're happy to assist over the phone or via email. Let us know if we can help in any way.

GREAT BOOKS AND GREAT ART, WHAT ELSE COULD YOU ASK FOR?!GreatBooks

Crow in Hi Tops and Kerchief by Navajo artist Chandler Begay
Take a look at our books. Most book titles still are 20% off while our supply lasts -- As we sell out of our liquidated book titles, we will mark them SOLD OUT on our online store; however, we will continue to keep information on all Sold Out books on our webstore to serve as a public reference for books related to American Indian arts and for encouragement to locate other sources for titles that interest you.

TAKE A LOOK (OR A LISTEN)! TakeALook
Have you listened to Native American music lately? Next time you visit, take a look at our CD titles in the Shop; many are 30% off. While we do not offer the titles on the Web store, you may certainly call 202-208-4056 or email to see if we have a title that you might like.

HOW DO YOU DISPLAY YOUR ARTWORK? WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE HOW OTHERS DISPLAY THEIR COLLECTIONS? HAVE ANY DISPLAY TRICKS' YOU MIGHT LIKE TO SHARE? DisplayArtwork
American Indian art with other collectibles
We would like to put together images of display ideas for the arts. Images
of home and/or office displays would be great. We will not be disclosing the origin of any of the images, so they would just be "anonymous" collections or displays. Our goals are to share and learn and educate; your photo images and a few side notes would be greatly appreciated!

We've heard of customers draping a Navajo rug at the end of a bed, using a CD shelf cabinet for their fetish collection, showcasing art in an entry way, arranging an outdoor sculpture with plants, hanging their beadwork on a wall, etc. Wouldn't it be great to see visuals of great art arrangements? Would you like to share yours? If so, send your images to [email protected].  A "display" can be any size, from an arrangement of just a few pieces to a larger exhibit of a whole room/wall display.
We will begin working on a compilation and will start a Pinterest Board in addition to having the images available on our website. Please send in your images by March 31 - the earlier the better!  If you have any ideas or input for this project, send an email or contact the Shop at 202-208-4056. And Thank You!

Sculpture, basketry, pottery and books adorn the shelving in this side room/TV den.
