February has snuck up on us again! We hope all of you have been safe and warm this winter and have enjoyed your winter activities, whether they are indoors or out. During the winter, we think of cozy fireplaces, hot chocolate, warm homemade soups and chilis, bundling up outdoors, ice skating, skiing and, of course, with the snow we have shoveling, too! Then, there are those of you who have snow-birded down south or to the southwest and just hear about the winter activities (and snowed-in stories) of your friends. Wherever you are, we hope you have been enjoying your winter life and that you've stayed safe and warm.

Today is Groundhog Day! Punxsutawney Philcame out from his underground burrow and DID NOT see his shadow; if we believe the legend, we will have an early spring- wouldn't that be wonderful?!

We will welcome spring whenever it comes and, as always, are working on another year of great arts and highlights to bring to you, beginning with a great new promotion on books and publications, a gathering of art display ideas from you, our Annual Winter Sale and then a revival of our Highlight of the Month Program beginning in March.
THE INDIAN CRAFT SHOP WILL LIQUIDATE
(YET
STILL PROMOTE!) THE MAJORITY OF ITS BOOKS AND PUBLICATIONS BookLiquidation
As many of our long time customers know, The Indian Craft Shop has always taken pride in representing the greatest diversity and range of work in the Shop. And we have been known for having EVERY book title (still in print) related to American Indian arts and crafts available for our customers. This selection has comprised more than 200 different book titles - undoubtedly the largest variety of available book titles related to American Indian arts available for sale in any one location in the world!

Due to changes in lifestyles, lack of book sales, space constraints at the Shop and online discounters such as Amazon.com, we have decided to "change with the times" and carry 30 - 60 titles (about 30 related to the arts with the remainder being the children's and youth educational titles).

THIS IS FOR YOUR BENEFIT! YOU GET TO PURCHASE MOST BOOK TITLES (WHILE QUANTITIES LAST) AT 20% OFF STARTING NOW!
Take a look at the different subject and craft areas of books on our online store
We also believe this is a great benefit because we can continue to improve our display space for our artists and their artwork in the Shop.

As we sell out of our liquidated book titles, we will mark them SOLD OUT on our online store; however, we will continue to keep all book information on our website for your reference. The educational and promotional value of all of the authors, research, photography and coverage of the arts is so valuable that we want to continue to promote it, even if you must find another source for purchasing the books.

HOW DO YOU DISPLAY YOUR ARTWORK? WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE HOW OTHERS DISPLAY THEIR COLLECTIONS? DO YOU HAVE ANY DISPLAY TRICKS YOU MIGHT LIKE TO SHARE?ArtDisplay
We've heard of customers draping a Navajo rug at the foot of a bed, (one such customer even has one in pastel vegetal dyes for the spring/summer and one in rich reds for the fall/winter), using a CD shelf cabinet for their fetish collection, showcasing art in an entryway, arranging an outdoor sculpture with potted plants, having their "happy bear" fetish carving peeking at them on their monitor, hanging beadwork  on a wall, etc.

Wouldn't it be great to see visuals of art arrangements?  Would you like to share yours? If so, please email your images with any side notes you would like to include to indiancraftshop@guestservices.com We would love to put together images of display ideas for the arts - not only to share ideas, but also to show artists how much people are enjoying the arts in their homes and offices. We would not be disclosing the origin of any images, so they would just be 'anonymous' collections or displays. Our goals are to share and learn and educate. Your photo images and a few side notes would be greatly appreciated!

The Shop is FiIled with the Arts!

We will begin working on a compilation and will post to a Pinterest Board in addition to having them available on our website. Send in your images by March 31 - the earlier the better!  If you have any ideas or input for this project, send an email note to  indiancraftshop@guestservices.com or contact the Shop at 202-208-4056. And thank you for helping breathe life into this fun and educational project!
