And Very Best Wishes for
A HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL 2014

About the Pictures

Despite all the qualifications - and there are many - the WTO's 9th Ministerial Conference in Bali was the great trade policy success of 2013.

Trade policy is our subject but it is the domain of governments, here symbolized by the U.S. Capitol, as seen during a GBD event at McDermott Will and Emery.  And after each event, it is Mt. Hood that tells me I am just about home.

As for the motorcycle, it is our way of saying that, if you are inclined to watch a movie on New Year's Day, "The World's Fastest Indian"(2005 with Anthony Hopkins) would be an excellent choice. It tells the story of New Zealander Burt Munro, who set a speed record at Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats on his 1920 Indian Motorcycle, made (before his modifications) in Springfield, Massachusetts. This film has it all: a wonderful man, a delightful journey, and a solid achievement, crowned with the hard won words, "I did it." We should all have a 2014 like that. We'll get started next Monday. In the meantime, from the Global Business Dialogue:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
