Red Bulls say MLS refs want crackdown on GK time-wasting after strange call in Jax: According to New York Red Bulls coach Mike Petke, MLS intends to make sure that goalkeepers spend a little less time with the ball this season. During his club's 2-1 preseason win over the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday night, Petke saw what he said was a first for his career: the awarding of an indirect free kick without a goalkeeper first being warned for time-wasting.

With a year to prepare, PSA Elite hope for successful U.S. Open Cup campaign: In previous years, PSA Elite of Irvine, Calif. have suffered in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup from having too little time to prepare for their matches after qualifying from the USASA Region IV tournament. Soccerwire.com's Chris Teale looks at why it will be a whole new game going into this year's tournament.

Freddy Adu training with Blackpool: Former D.C. United player and free agent Freddy Adu made an appearance with English Championship side Blackpool in their reserve game earlier this week. Once thought of as a young phenom destined for greatness, Adu has bounced around to numerous teams over the years, failing to find success since he won the MLS Cup with United in 2004.
