Washington Spirit midfielder Diana Matheson has been named to the Canadian Women's National Team roster that will head to Texas to take on rivals USA for their first game of the new year on January 31. William & Mary soccer players Kathy Carter '91 and Brittany Ann Lane '11 will receive the Tribe Champion for Life Award and the One Tribe Award, respectively, as the school hosts the Celebration of Women's Athletics Luncheon on Saturday, Feb. 8. The Washington Post featured 15-year-old Manassas native Jose Carranza, who was recently accepted into the U.S. Soccer Under-17 Residency Program.

The NWSL Washington Spirit will hold open tryouts at the Maryland SoccerPlex on February 21 from 10am-12pm and from 4-6pm ET. Philadelphia Union have acquired U.S. Men's National Team midfielder and University of Maryland alum Maurice Edu from Stoke City FC on a one-year loan with an option to purchase. The Washington Spirit announced their Adopt A Team contest for all girls youth soccer teams 18 and under within the MD/DC/VA area, where teams can have a Spirit professional player coach them. The 2014 USL PRO Combine concluded on Sunday as the 102 players in attendance competed in one final scrimmage in front of the assembled USL PRO, MLS and international scouts gathered at the facilities of IMG Academy. The NASL 2014 Combine wrapped up on Sunday with 44 select players from among the group of 130 hopefuls who signed in on Friday showcasing their talents in a series of games under the watchful eye of NASL coaches. UMBC head men's soccer coach Pete Caringi has signed a contract extension through the 2018 season. The Richmond Kickers announced the launch of the Hispanic Outreach Program, which will kick off in March 2014. The 2014 US Youth Futsal Nationals registration deadline is January 31.
