What is a Lock Off Unit?
Some resort systems, such as Marriott, offer the lock off feature with some or all of their resorts, also known as a lock out unit.
A lock off unit is a full sized unit that has a divider door in the center, where you have the option to "lock off" one side of the unit from the other, if desired.

With a lock off unit, you will find there are complete living quarters provided on each side of the unit. One side will usually have a full kitchen, along with a full bathroom and a bedroom, while the other side might be a studio type unit with it's own bathroom and a partial kitchen.
Each side of the unit has an entrance way from the outside, and may also have it's own balcony.
Having this lock off feature can be highly desired for a few reasons:
For one, most resorts that offer this feature allow an owner to use one side of the lock off as one full week of their stay, and then use the other side for a full second week of the year, without paying an additional maintenance fee.
Another benefit to this feature is that you and your spouse/kids can stay in one side while having friends come along who can use the other side of the unit, giving each family their own space and privacy. The lock off door can be opened for intermingling. Whenever I come across a useful piece of information I always think of ways I can share that with you, my readers. In today's newsletter, I'm offering a list I found, of Marriott Resorts that do and do not have the lock off feature. This can be very helpful for those looking to buy into Marriott, needing to know which resorts they have to choose from if the lock off feature is important to them. Please reply to this email if you are interested in this Marriott Lock Off Unit List and I will send it your way!
