Greetings!

Chasing a 170 mph class record on the bleak Bonneville Salt Flats is generally not on the agenda of most 85 year old men. John Fitch was a such a man and lived a life worth celebrating. A dedicated Mercedes man he opened his racing career racing a W194 Gullwing for Mercedes-Benz and closed it at Bonneville aboard a privately owned Gullwing. We offer a glimpse into this man's interesting live.

The new creations from MB tuners are a mixed bag, some are compelling and some are simply deplorable. Fooling with an oldtimer is riskier and bound to upset the purists among us. We cover Budapest specialist Vilner's interpretation of a Pagoda. I have a feeling we'll see a robust discussion on the Gentle Pagoda in our comments area.

You may notice the slightly tardy arrival of November's newsletter. I'm happy to blame this on a seriously expanded travel schedule as of late. We're in the business of buying classic MBs and when presented with an interesting lead, the computer is shut off and I'm off to the airport. This month's Sleeping Beauties report covers a few of our more interesting discoveries.

There seems to be no end to new versions of the epic SLS AMG range. We knew it was coming via regular spy shots and video clips, but the menacing Black Series SLS is now a reality. I'm waiting for Daimler's press department to deliver one to our headquarters for a long term evaluation. Might be a long wait...

We hope you enjoy this month's newsletter.

Sincerely,
Roy Spencer
