SSKCA Is Rapidly Expanding!

The word is out about the best education value in North Brooklyn! The Academy has currently opened an additional Kindergarten class for September 2015 in order to meet the admissions demand! Registrations are still being accepted, and the Academy will open an additional PreK3 and PreK4 class if there are enough registrations. Our robust academic program includes special subjects in Art, Spanish, Music, Computer, and Gym as well as an Honors program in middle school. Please contact Assistant Principal Enid Rodriguez at erodriguez@ststansacademy.org to schedule a tour!

Students Show Support and #WearYellowForSeth

St. Stans students wear yellow in support of 5-year-old Seth Lane, who was born with an immunodeficiency disorder. This condition makes him highly susceptible to infection, so he has been confined to a completely sterile environment. Click here for the video in which students show their support for Seth!

"Around the World" Summer Camp Registration Is Open!
May 18th from 7-8pm - Meet the Teachers and Review Curriculum!
Camp is Open to ALL (SSKCA waitlist and PS students!)

We will be having a second information session to answer all questions, review the daily schedule and curriculum, and meet the teachers! Our summer camp "visits" a new Spanish-speaking country every week in order to extend school academics and foreign language learning into the summer. We will also have daily outdoor play (with sprinklers!) at the local park along with our on-site playground. Please email Enid Rodriguez at erodriguez@ststansacademy.org with questions and to receive the daily schedule.

Help Us Raise $40,000!

Our biggest fundraiser can raise $40,000 for our school if we sell all 2,500 tickets. The proceeds will fund an upgraded Audio/Visual system for our auditorium. Tickets cost $20, and the cash prizes are $5,000, $2,000, and $1,000, and winners will be selected at our Family Fun Day on Sunday, June 14th. Tickets can be purchased by mailing a money order or bringing cash to 12 Newell Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222. Please support our school!

8th Graders Visit the 9/11 Museum

These students, who were babies when the World Trade Center attack occurred on September 11, 2001, visited the 9/11 Museum and Memorial. Two students' fathers volunteered to chaperone because they felt a connection since they were present on 9/11 or helped to recover Ground Zero shortly thereafter. It was a very emotional visit for all. The adults found it emotional because they had lived through it, and the students found it emotional because of "the phone calls and what people were saying about the buildings and the people" and "the feeling of how many people died where I stood and how many bodies they could not find." Mrs. C, our principal, accompanied the class on this trip. While at the Museum Shop, Mrs. C saw the book, The Survivor Tree, by Cheryl Somers Aubin and read the book to the students. All students were silent and attentive to the reading, using this time to reflect on the deeply emotional experience.

SSKCA Girl Scouts Get Adventurous!

Between the Brownies presenting their robot, Mr. Robi G. Brainy, at the first-ever Girl Scout Robotics Expo and the Cadettes braving the 35-foot walls of Long Island City Cliffs, it was certainly an exciting Saturday for St. Stans Troop 2832. The Cadettes even earned their Adventure Badge for perfectly executing different safety knots and the belaying technique so that once they reached the top of the wall, they could safely repel back down! Congratulations girls! For more details of their adventurous day, click here.
