Smart Board in Every Classroom!

As of December, the PreK3 class received their Smart Board, which is now in every classroom!  The Smart Board is an interactive board that allows children to learn by doing.  It provides the teacher with the ability to incorporate educational tools that enhance lessons as well as excite and motivate the students.

2014-15 Registration is now OPEN and filling fast!  Please submit an application with a $200 security deposit to secure your child's enrollment.

Scrabble Club Tradition Continues!

Every Thursday after school, children in grades 4 to 8 participate in both leisurely and competitive games amongst each other.  The games are a fun way to help build vocabulary and strengthen spelling skills.  Everyone helps out when someone is unsure of a word - or they can look it up in the dictionary! 

Since November, the class has been diligently working on Physical Science projects during class time. The students chose to conduct experiments and learn about a wide range of topics including buoyancy, power generation and chemical reactions. Once the students completed their research, they each wrote a paper discussing their findings and made a presentation to their classmates which included a display board that help explained what they had learned through pictures or other images. As part of their presentations,they even had to answer questions from their very curious classmates!  In addition to being a fun learning experience for the students, this project
has immersed them in a part of the curriculum and helps prepare them for theNew York State "Common Core" Exam. 

Free Brooklyn Bus Transportation- Department of Education bus pick-up is available to registered SSKCA students from Ages 5- Grade 6 (and Grades 7-8th if student crosses a busy road like McGuinness Blvd). Email dh@ridemss.com to be on the list.
