Professionally Printed Greeting Cards Featuring Your Art!
New Fundraiser Supports AVA's Scholarship Fund

Following on the success of last year's Greeting Cards Fundraiser, AVA is happy to announce that we will be offering community members the opportunity to have greeting cards made that feature their own original artwork.

They're just in time for the holidays and great for children and family members alike!

A box of 20 greeting cards with your artwork on the cover, professionally printed on nice paper and with envelopes, can be yours for $20. A portion of the proceeds raised through this campaign will go to AVA's Scholarship Fund.

It's easy to participate. Stop by the AVA office to pick up the appropriate card template. Make your art directly on the paper provided. Return the card to AVA the first week in November. We'll call you when your cards have been printed and are ready for pick-up!

If you have further questions, please click here to email for more information or give us a call: (603) 448-3117.
Looking, Thinking, and Speaking about Art
With Marcos Stafne, Executive Director of the Montshire Museum
November 5, 5:30pm -- Free!

Born on the Blue Planet, by Joseph Tracy

When we look at a work of art, what do we see that makes us draw connections and understand what's being communicated? Join Marcos Stafne, Executive Director of the Montshire Museum of Science, as he leads a tour of AVA's exhibitions,Vermont Glass Guild-2015 Art Glass Invitational Exhibition and Recent Work by John McNally, employing a method of inquiry known as Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS). Participants in this interactive tour will learn about VTS, look deeply at three or four works of art, and share in a group conversation about what they see.

Marcos Stafne, PhD, formerly served as Vice President of Programs and Visitor Experience at the Brooklyn Children's Museum, Director of Education and Visitor Experience at the Rubin Museum of Art, and Director of Public Programs and Traveling Exhibitions at the New York Hall of Science.

Lebanon Fire Department Practices Emergency Procedures on AVA's Yellow House Roof!

Prior to its planned demolition in order to give way to AVA's new facility for 3-D studies, the yellow house on the property behind our Carter-Kelsey building has recently been used in interesting ways. It has undergone selective salvaging of a number of items, including flooring and windows that will be re-sold and re-used, and it has also been used for very specific educational purposes.

This past week, the Lebanon Fire Department spent several days on the site, practicing a variety of emergency procedures. In the image above, fire fighters are seen practicing ways to access interior spaces by cutting directly through the roof. While it was exciting to watch, it also underscored the importance of preparedness for the challenging and demanding work that the fire department does in the community.
