Art Lab--the imaginative art program for adults with special needs--begins again on September 2.

Senior Art--a program where seniors work on their own self-directed projects among a growing community of other enthusiastic seniors--begins again on September 3.

Art for Kids--the unique art program where children with chronic medical conditions make art with medical students from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College--begins again on September 13.

ART STOP!--a free afterschool program that encourages youths in grades 5-8 to take inspiration from AVA's ongoing exhibitions to create their own drawings, paintings, and sculptures on Tuesdays--begins again on September 15.

CAOS for Toddlers--a weekly program where children with caregivers make their own self-directed art projects using AVA's diverse assortment of art supplies--begins again on September 18.

CAOS (Community Arts Open Studio)--a weekly workshop where children of all ages with their caregivers make their own self-directed art projects using AVA's diverse assortment of art supplies on Saturdays--begins again on September 19.

Live Storytelling: The Mudroom

The Mudroom, modeled after NPR's The Moth Radio Hour, continues to draw large crowds to AVA for lively evenings featuring talented storytellers, mesmerized audiences, live music, and locally sourced refreshments.

The Thursday, September 17 event will be on the theme "Work It, Baby."  
 

 
AVA's Annual Meeting

All AVA members are cordially invited to our Annual Meeting. Election of new officers and Board members will take place, and the proposed budget for fiscal year 2015-2016 will be discussed. There will also be a progress report on AVA's 3-D studies building. Please join us to learn more about the organization you so generously support! Refreshments will be served.

We had a tremendous time sharing the gift of art with everyone at the Lebanon Farmers Market this summer. Special thanks go to our intrepid interns Claire Callahan, Sarah Fall, Stephanie Hammer, and Emma Webster, who enthusiastically staffed our free, open-air studio all summer long.

Come paint with the Vermont Institute of Natural Science to celebrate the remarkable beauty and diversity of the Ottauquechee River and the Connecticut River watershed, its surrounding forests and waterways, its vibrant communities, its important message of conservation, and its diverse bird life.

Call for Artists: S&R Foundation Award 
Deadline: October 15
 
Are you an aspiring visual artist, dancer, photographer, musician, film maker, or writer? If so you can now apply for the S&R Foundation Washington Award!

This year S&R Foundation is looking to increase the number of applications from artists in the field of visual, interdisciplinary, photography, dance, and film. Since its inception in 2001, the Washington Award has remained open to talented artists working in any medium.

Each winner will be awarded the cash prize of $5,000. In addition, the Awards Committee may designate a Grand Prize winner who receives an additional $5,000 and will be eligible for a Foundation sponsored event showcasing the winner's talents, such as a concert hall debut, gallery showing, or screening (depending on the artist's medium and career goals). Award winners are honored annually in the spring at the Washington Award Gala.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to complete the application in close consultation with the following documents: updated application guidelines for 2015, eligibility, terms and conditions. All documents are available to download as a PDF in the links listed below. The Application portal will close at 11:59pm EST on October 15.
