At AVA, we're concluding our 2014 exhibition series with a sparkling display: our Holiday Exhibition, which includes work by nearly 150 artists, is a show not to be missed! It remains open every day until 3pm on December 24, and is the perfect place to find imaginative, one-of-a kind gifts. Remember, when you shop at AVA, you support our local artists in the process!

Speaking of support, we would like to express our warmest thanks to AVA's numerous friends who, throughout the year, have helped sustain us in so many ways. Thank you for being a member, for donating to the annual fund, for buying art, for taking a class, for giving to the scholarship fund, for contributing to the capital campaign, for delighting a friend with a gift certificate, for providing grant support, for donating art supplies, for underwriting exhibitions or special events, for sharing your ideas, for volunteering-all these ways of giving, and many, many more, enable us to create enriching art programs and opportunities for all ages and abilities.

And, if you haven't done so yet, now is the time to consider an end-of-the-year, fully tax-deductible gift to AVA. In return, we will remain as committed as ever to give back to the community that supports us.

Happy Holidays!

With gratitude and warmest wishes from AVA's Board and staff.

AVA Receives Business of the Year Award from the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce

During a festive reception on December 10, the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce presented AVA Gallery and Art Center with the 2014 Business of the Year award. Paul Boucher, the chamber's executive director, praised AVA for providing "unique experiences for people of all ages and abilities." The chamber also acknowledged AVA for having been "an excellent economic partner for downtown," pointing out how our events and programs help draw visitors to the city's restaurants. Appropriately, Robert Meyers and Jim Reiman, owners of Tree Tomatoes Trattoria, which was named the Business of the Year in 2013, introduced AVA at the award ceremony, citing our organization's numerous accomplishments over the nearly twenty-five years that we have been located in Lebanon.

We were particularly pleased to share the evening with City Councilor Nicole Cormen who was named the 2014 Citizen of the Year and praised for all the outstanding volunteer work she does in the community.

Pentucket Arts Foundation Artist and Education Grants

Deadline: January 31

The Pentucket Arts Foundation is excited to announce their new Arts Connecting Community Artist Grant.

The goal of this funding opportunity is to engage people from the Pentucket communities in the creative process as a way to foster connections and enrich lives. Building on their successful Arts Connecting Community Public Art Project last year, the ACC Artist Grant will provide seed money or funding for highly interactive, community-driven Fine and Performing Arts projects that take place in Groveland, Merrimac and West Newbury, MA and that appeal to the widest segment of the population of these three towns. Priority will be given to those proposed Community Arts projects that are the most interactive in nature and that give local folks a chance to participate in the Arts in ways they haven't before.

While the Pentucket Arts Foundation always seeks to support local artists and arts organizations, you do not have to live in one of the three Pentucket towns in order to apply for funding. They are simply interested in immersing their community in new and exciting arts experiences--from wherever they may come! When possible, they seek to fund projects that involve the audience in the conception, creation and/or presentation of the art.

The first cycle of this new grant will award up to $1,500. Awards will be announced in March 2015.
