With summer winding down (don't say it!) and the start of school looming large (not that either!), AVA would like to thank everyone who participated in our 2014 Art Camps.

Following the example set by all the young and intrepid art enthusiasts we got to know so well, we are excited to deliver a high-energy fall program, filled with new art experiences for all.

Please read on to learn more.

All best wishes,

Come to AVA's 2014 Annual Meeting
Tuesday, September 16, 6:00-7:30pm

To better coincide with AVA's fiscal year, which runs from September 1 through August 31, our Annual Meeting will now be held in September rather than November.

All AVA members are cordially invited to our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, September 16, from 6:00 to 7:30pm. Election of new officers and Board members will take place, and the proposed budget for fiscal year 2014-2015 will be discussed and voted on. There will also be a presentation of our exciting plans for the future, and a progress report on recent accomplishments. Please join us for this very special opportunity to learn more about the organization you so generously support!

Refreshments will be served.

Call for Storytellers: AVA's September 2014 Mudroom

The Mudroom, modeled after NPR's The Moth Radio Hour, continues to draw large crowds to AVA for lively evenings with talented storytellers and mesmerized audiences.

The Mudroom is currently seeking storytellers with a tale to share on the theme, "Sparks," for the September 18 event.

Click here to email for more information about how to get involved. Come join the fun!

Call for Entries: A Midnight Eerie
Deadline: September 8

Open to All Photographic Mediums
Juror: Jessica Somers

Ravens tapping at the window. Mysterious moonlit landscapes. Spooky abandoned buildings. Creepy places. Ghostly portraits. Horror. Nightmares. What do you consider frightening or unsettling?

Photosynthesis and Gallery 136½ are seeking eerie images. These images may be inspired by the macabre writings of Edgar Allan Poe, reminiscent of the suspense films of Alfred Hitchcock, or come from a dark, creative place within you. Forty to fifty photographs will be chosen by the juror to be exhibited at Gallery 136½.

The Clark Hulings Fund for Visual Artists
Deadline: September 30

The Clark Hulings Fund for Visual Artists considers proposals from professional artists who have secured tangible prospects for advancing their careers, but lack sufficient financial resources to capitalize on those opportunities. Examples include but are not limited to: the completion of work due to a gallery, museum, or private collection, the transportation of work or of the artist to an exhibition of that artist's material, the management of logistical or technical requirements to realize a project, etc. The Fund does not support performance, literary or commercial work.
