With the holidays and the Polar Vortex behind us, let's get back on track with some outstanding art and community gatherings!
There will be many special events at AVA in the next two weeks. Please join us this Friday, January 17, for the opening reception for our new exhibition; on Sunday, January 19, for a showing of Hand of Brick; and on Sunday, January 26, for a screening of Clifford West's film on Edvard Munch's paintings! Following the Munch film on the 26th, please consider having a beverage or a meal at Margarita's in Lebanon. The restaurant will be donating a percentage of the proceeds from your meal to AVA!
If you're eager to make your own art, our winter education program has begun! And if you're a parent who likes to plan ahead, AVA's Summer Art Camps are now available online.
We look forward to seeing you soon,
~The Board and Staff of AVA Gallery and Art Center

December 2013 marked the 150th anniversary of the birth of Edvard Munch. In honor of this occasion, AVA will be showing Edvard Munch: Paintings on Sunday, January 26, at 4:00pm. The film, which was photographed and produced by Clifford B. West in 1968, features a narration based exclusively on Munch's writings and many of the artist's later, lesser known works. Bente Torjusen, AVA's Executive Director, will give an introduction to this film, which is one of thirty documentaries on art and architecture made by West, her late husband.
