This two-day workshop will give more experienced glass-fusing students the opportunity to take their projects further by incorporating visual effects made possible by a second firing.

November 10; Saturday, 10:00am-5:00pm; One-day intensive

Materials list provided. $30 model fee included.

Tuition: $125 /members; $150 /non-members

  

In this one-day charcoal drawing class, participants will learn techniques for rendering the human head. By focusing on the planes of the head as well as studying features individually, participants will leave with a foundation for future portrait drawing.

 

 
Adult Knitting at CAOS
Saturday, November 3, 11:00am-4:00pm

If you are a knitter and are planning to attend CAOS on Saturday, November 3 - consider bringing your knitting! AVA faculty member Debbe Callaghan will be available to council you on your current project!

CAOS (Community Arts Open Studio) is a weekly Saturday workshop (11:00am-4:00pm) where children with caregivers make their own self-directed art projects using AVA's diverse assortment of art supplies. Participation costs $5, whether you stay for an hour, or for the afternoon.

 

 

 
AVA's Annual Meeting
Tuesday, November 13, 6:00-7:30pm

 

All AVA members are cordially invited to our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, from 6:00 to 7:30pm. Election of new officers and board members will take place, and the proposed budget for fiscal year 2012-2013 will be discussed and voted on.  

 

With AVA's 40th anniversary year just around the corner, we will also talk about what the future holds for our organization, and how we're planning for the next 40 years (or at least the next 4 years).  

 

Refreshments will be served. Please join us!

Opera North's Young Artists Present Mozart's The Impressario
Wednesday, November 14, 10:30am, at AVA!

Opera North's Young Artists will perform Mozart's The Impresario in AVA's Clifford B. West Gallery on Wednesday, November 14th from 10:30 - 11:15 am.  

 

Sung in English, this comic opera revolves around the classical conflict of the aging diva and the new ingénue. When two dueling sopranos audition for the same role, the opera director must make a challenging decision.
