Karen Moore is our Volunteer of the Month

Written by Ben Strand, Winona Daily News
When Karen Moore started volunteering for the Goodview Gallop in 1988, it wasn't just to help out with a race for a good cause - her passion runs deeper.

Moore said many of her family members have been affected by cancer, while also acknowledging she's not alone.

"Cancer has taken a lot of my family, but I'm not unique," she said. "A lot of people out there can say cancer has impacted them in some way."

Moore finds comfort and compassion through volunteering for the Gallop. The relationships she's built through the years hold a special place in her heart, which is important to Moore.

Through the Gallop she's able to share experiences with others who know what it's like to be impacted by cancer.

"For me, that's what I get out of it," Moore said. "There's so many good people in this community I wouldn't have met if it wasn't for the (Goodview Gallop)."
