Nutrition Article: The Power of Green
Article by Nicole Raebel, Live Well Winona Intern

Green is the color of March!

Although legendary Groundhog "Punxsutawney Phil" cursed us last month with an estimated six more long weeks of winter, the month of March is going to bring the promising color of green back into our lives. After this excruciating winter we have endured, it may feel like the color green will never again return to the roaring bluffs of Winona. But with the month of March comes the first day of spring, and begins the hopefulness of a snow-melting heat wave that will reveal the some-what green grass that lies beneath many feet of snow.

As the color green begins to reenter our lives outdoors, it comes as a reminder to keep greens alive in our diets.

Mission
SEED is dedicated to community enrichment through multidisciplinary artistic ventures by integrating community members and professional artists.

Vision
SEED's main goal is to encourage the Winona area to exercise their artist. Think about what it would be like to walk into a place where you don't just observe art, but you interact with it. What does this look like....what are the possibilities here? SEED believes that each of us have a unique story that our community is interested in hearing. The arts are a perfect vehicle through which to tell our stories. You don't have to be trained in the arts to use them in a way that will make an impact.

Making a Difference Award: Stop Sexual & Domestic Violence

The Winona County Sexual and Domestic Violence Primary Prevention Project began in 2008 through the coalition efforts of many citizens, health and human services, educational, judicial services, professionals and their agencies collaborating to develop community strategies for the prevention of sexual and domestic violence.

The mission of this project is to apply the process of public health primary prevention in Winona County to reduce sexual and domestic/relationship violence throughout our community.  While this initiative focuses on primary prevention of sexual and domestic violence, it is understood to be part of a broader collaborative effort to reduce all violence in Winona County.
