Add some spice to your life

Cinnamon, nutmeg, oregano and dill are examples of spice rack staples found in most homes. Stretch your grocery dollar by mixing a few of those staples together to create a new salt-free herb and spice blends. Get examples.

Making a Difference Award:
Restorative Justice

MISSION STATEMENT: The Restorative Justice Program of Winona County facilitates compassionate responses to crime and wrongdoing that fosters support and healing for the victim; accountability, rehabilitation and reintegration of the offender; and renewal and safety for the community.

Their website declares, "Restorative Justice is traditionally an alternative way of thinking about and working with crime and criminal justice. It views crime as an infringement against an individual or community rather than the state. That is, it empowers victims, family, and the community as a whole to play a major role in the process of offender accountability. Restorative Justice encourages the offenders to take responsibility for their actions and helps them to repair the harm they have caused to the victim and to the community."

We thank Restorative Justice for their efforts to "integrate offenders into the community to make them a part of, rather than apart from, the community thus reducing criminal behaviors."

January Date Night: Run & Chili

The first date night of 2014 should be fun, yet keep track of your New Year's resolutions (if you have any). An all-you-can-eat chili bar fundraiser at the Black Horse Bar & Grill can be justified after you join Live Well Winona for our weekly group run/walk! Meet at the Visitor's Center at 5:30pm on Monday, January 20th for a little exercise. Walk/run your own pace and choose your distance. A group 'leader' will be there for support if needed! Head home for a quick shower (optional!) and then swing over to the Black Horse in Homer, MN to support the 2014  Team Vogel Vs Cancer fundraising season. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased in advance by emailing TeamVogelvsCancer@gmail.com or buy them at the door. Dinner is served between 4-8pm. Guilt-free dining is the best!
