NEW FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES 
CTSI/CDI Children's Health Team Science Award
This Children's Discovery and Innovation Institute and CTSI award supports research teams at UCLA and CTSI partner and affiliated institutions to conduct novel, multidisciplinary, team oriented and high impact research in children's health. Awards up to $100,000 will support four initial research themes. LOIs are due Feb. 10. Learn more here.
FUNDING REMINDERS

NIH/NIA-funded RCMAR/CHIME & CTSI Pilot-Study Awards 

Applications are being accepted through Jan. 9 from junior- and mid-level, minority faculty researchers who currently have or will have a faculty appointment at UCLA or another academic institution in the greater Los Angeles area and who are interested in conducting a pilot-study research project in minority elderly populations. The BUILD Health Challenge invites collaborative proposals thru Jan. 16 that will identify, highlight, and advance new models for improving community health and health equity. Awards are up to $7.5 million in grants, low-interest loans, and program-related investments over two years. Learn more


UC CAI Tech Grant Funding Opportunity

UC CAI has reissued an RFA for Technology Development Grants worth up to $200K each for development of novel technologies for heart, lung and blood diseases. This opportunity will support a broad range of drugs, devices (including wireless devices), diagnostics and tools with high potential of becoming commercially viable products that address and unmet need. Iris Cantor-UCLA Women's Health Center and CTSI awards
- Funding for Augmentation of Major Research Grants  
Funds of $30K are available to augment currently funded NIH or major foundation grants for researchers, to promote exploration of sex and gender-based differences and women's health research. The award can be used to focus on, expand, or strengthen a research project's applicability to women's health. This award is open to the four CTSI partner institutions. - Research in Women's Health Fellowship Funding 

Fellowship funds of $20K are available for one PhD candidate (including M.D. Ph.D. or other dual degree) or post-doctoral student engaged in research related to women's health. This award is open to the four CTSI partner institutions. Submissions are due Jan. 27. Click here for details. 
- Pilot Funding for Research in Women's Health  
Pilot funds of $30K are available for researchers who perform women's health research, and/or research where exploration of sex and gender-based differences is relevant. This award is open to the four CTSI partner institutions. Submissions are due Jan. 27. Additional details here.

KL2 Translational Science Award
This CTSI award provides over $100K in salary support, benefits and funds to highly qualified junior faculty to conduct mentored, interdisciplinary, patient-oriented research. Letters of intent due Feb. 2; full applications due Feb. 23. Click here for more.

Rapid Pilot Grants Program Research Funding Available
The UCLA OAIC and the UCLA CTSI are soliciting applications from the four CTSI partner institutions for the Rapid Pilot Grants Program's aging-related basic, clinical and health services research. Award size will range from $1,000 to $10,000, depending on scope of work. Applications will accepted until the program's allocated funds have been spent. For more information, click here.

The UCLA Undergraduate Science Journal showcases research and review articles written by UCLA undergraduate students. For the 2015 issue USJ wishes to highlight the work of undergraduates that work in CTSI faculty laboratories at the Westwood campus. Article submissions are due Jan. 8.
