Awards of $100 to $5,000 each support team-building activities that advance translational science and promote collaborations across disciplines and CTSI institutions. Deadline is Aug. 22. Details found here.

 

Now Available! UC CAI Tech Grant RFA 

UC Center for Accelerated Innovation, a collaboration of the five UC medical campuses to accelerate translation of UC discoveries to benefit patients with heart, lung and blood diseases, has released an RFA to award up to six grants worth up to $200K each to support technology development. Awardees will also receive project-management support and mentoring in entrepreneurship and commercialization. Faculty in all series at all ranks at UC Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco will be eligible. Postdoctoral scholars will be eligible to submit as Co-PI. CTSA Applications Sought for Free Access to Biospecimens on Heart Disease and Diabetes
The Indiana Clinical and Translational Science Institute is calling for applications nationally from CTSA investigators to access biospecimens to advance research on coronary artery disease and type 2 diabetes. Applications are due Aug. 15See full announcement

 

How to Co-fund a Team Science Award

These awards support multidisciplinary teams and facilitate obtaining preliminary data for extramural grants. Through co-funding from CTSI and other entities (e.g. depts, centers), team awards can be up to $200,000. Learn more about CTSI Co-Funding.

Core Voucher RFA - LA BioMed

Applications for vouchers worth up to $10K in core services are now being accepted from LA BioMed investigators. Previous voucher recipients may also apply if a different proposal is being submitted. The deadline is July 23. Click here for details.

Tomas Ganz to Present 2014 Ash E. Donnall Thomas Lecture
The American Society of Hematology honors Dr. Ganz's groundbreaking research in iron homeostasis. He will present on "Iron, Erythropoiesis, and Host Defense: A Ménage à Trois," on Dec. 8, at the 56th ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition in San Francisco. Full story here.

LADR: Explore Available Patient Populations in Los Angeles
LADR, the Los Angeles Data Repository, is a joint project of major Los Angeles health care provider organizations aimed at enabling clinical investigators to explore the size of potential research study cohorts across each participating institution. Initial participants include UCLA and Cedars-Sinai. Learn more

UC ReX: a UC Shared Data Resource

UC Research eXchange and its UC ReX Data Explorer tool provide researchers and specialists access to cohort counts derived from the de-identified clinical data of over 12 million patients collected at the point of care from the five UC health campuses. Click here for more information
