How to Co-fund a Team Science Award 
These awards support multidisciplinary teams and facilitate obtaining preliminary data for extramural grants. Through co-funding from CTSI and other entities (e.g. depts, centers), team awards can be up to $200,000. Learn more about CTSI Co-Funding.

Sign Up for the UCLA CTSI NIH K Award Workshop 
RSVP is required by May 12. This popular event covers the NIH K award process, development of K proposals, the UCLA CTSI KL2 award process, and an overview of CTSI resources. Participants can submit draft applications in advance of the workshop for review. Space is limited! Get details and register.

Call for Applications: Training Programs in Translational Science 
CTSI TPTS offers CTSI partner sites advanced training in clinical research:
-  clinical research development modules (Track 1, app accepted year-round)
-  formal, structured certificate program (Track 2, apps due May 31)
-  Master of Science in Clinical Research (Track 3, apps due May 31)

NIH Change to the Resubmission Policy 
The NIH policy change now allows an applicant to submit a grant application as a new application, even if previously been reviewed by NIH, without substantial redesigning the content and scope of the project. Go to full story.

New York Times Cites E-Cigarette Study 
A UCLA laboratory study, presented earlier this year and supported by the CTSI, found that nicotine-laced vapor generated by an electronic cigarette promoted the development of cancer in certain types of human cells in much the same way cancer does. Read the NYT article

UC ReX: a UC Shared Data Resource
UC Research eXchange and its UC ReX Data Explorer tool provide researchers and specialists access to cohort counts derived from the de-identified clinical data of over 12 million patients collected at the point of care from the five UC health campuses. Click here for more information.

Preparing NIH Applications Using ASSIST  

On May 2, the UCLA Biomedical Library will give an overview of the NIH grant submission system that replaces paper applications for new collaborative grants to the National Institutes of Health. See details and register.
