Core Voucher RFA: Now Accepting Applications 

Applications for vouchers worth up to $10K in core services are now being accepted. Previous voucher recipients may also apply if a different proposal is being submitted. The deadline is Mar. 19. Click here for details

Team Science RFA: Immunity, Inflammation, Infection and Transplantation (I3T) Theme
Labs interested in assembling teams to address a specific clinical need for I3T and plan to involve basic researchers and clinicians should submit an LOI by Mar. 3. These are one-year awards with a maximum of $200,000 in direct costs. For more, see our Funding page.

CTSI TL1 Summer Fellowship for Health Professional Students
This program is for medical, dental and nursing students and provides exposure to the practice of interdisciplinary, community-partnered translational or health services research in urban, underserved communities. Apply by Mar. 31. Access the full criteria here
FUNDING REMINDERS
Translational Neurodegeneration/Neural Repair Research Awards 
CTSI and the UCLA Brain Research Institute and Integrated Center for Neural Repair will fund up to 4 projects in Translational Neurodegeneration/Neural Repair Research ($50,000 maximum per project). These awards are intended to catalyze extramural funding for innovative, collaborative and translational neuroscience within and among CTSI partner and affiliate institutions. UCLA & USC/CHLA Team Science Award
for Healthy Aging in Los Angeles County 
In partnership with LA County's Dept. of Health Services and Dept. of Public Health, the UCLA CTSI, SoCal CTSI at USC and Children's Hospital Los Angeles announce multi-site awards for advancing aging research and promoting healthy aging for older adults in LA County. Each team award is up to $50,000. LOIs are due Mar. 3See RFA details here.

R Bridge Grants for New Investigators (Deadline Extended) 

Eligible new investigators at the UCLA CTSI institutions are invited to apply by Mar. 3 for a bridging grant to support research and career development across the spectrum of translational science. Awards assist investigators in making the critical transition to independent NIH R01 funding, allowing those who have received competitive scores on R01 proposals to remain scientifically productive and strengthen their proposals. KL2 Translational Science Award
The award supports highly qualified junior faculty to conduct mentored, interdisciplinary, patient-oriented research. Full applications are due 8 AM, Feb. 24.  Additional information can be found here

CTSI-OAIC Rapid Pilot Grants Program 
UCLA Older Americans Independence Center and the CTSI are offering grants for age-related basic, clinical and health services research.  Awards range from $1,000 to $10,000. UCLA junior faculty members or advanced trainees at the post-doctoral level are eligible and must have an identified UCLA faculty mentor. Click here for details.

UCLA Unites with Top Universities To Boost Minority Science Faculty 
Read the LA Times article about the California Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate and how it is helping to increase the numbers of underrepresented minority students pursuing academic careers in the sciences. UCLA CTSI's TL1 trainee, Jenna Jones, is quoted.
 
CTRC-Westwood Announces Seed Grant Awardees

UC ReX: a UC Shared Data Resource
UC Research eXchange and its UC ReX Data Explorer tool have launched, now providing researchers and specialists access to cohort counts derived from de-identified clinical data collected at the point of care to improve medical care and advance research. The tool enables exploration of a combined population of over 12 million patients from medical center databases at UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UCSD and UCSF.
