FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
UC CAI Technology Development Grant Opportunity The UC Center for Accelerated Innovation is a collaboration of the 5 UC CTSAs to accelerate the translation of UC discoveries to benefit patients with heart, lung and blood diseases. UC CAI invites applications from UC investigators who propose to advance highly innovative early-stage drugs, devices and diagnostics toward commercialization. Read the RFA and join the informational webinar on Nov. 21, led by UC CAI Director, Dr. Michael Palazzolo. UC CAI anticipates making up to three awards of up to $200K each to support technology development.
KL2 Award Opportunity
The CTSI of Southeast Wisconsin seeks applicants for a three-year, mentored training and research award in sickle cell disease and non-malignant hematology. Application deadline is Jan. 31. Details can be found here.
CTSI-OAIC Rapid Pilot Grants Program
UCLA Older Americans Independence Center and the CTSI are offering grants for age-related basic, clinical and health services research. Awards will range from $1,000 to $10,000 and deadline is rolling. Click here for details.
CIRM Tools and Technologies III Awards
The award will support the creation, design and testing of broadly applicable novel tools and technologies that address translational bottlenecks to stem cell therapies. Pre-application deadline is Jan. 7. More details here.

CTSA Consortium Steering Committee Showcases CTSA Abstracts
On Dec. 2-3, the annual CTSA Consortium Steering Committee Face-to-Face meeting in Rockville, Maryland will hold a poster session highlighting select programs, processes and projects developed by CTSAs across the country as an "experiment" to address a specific question or problem where the outcomes could be positive--or not so positive. This is an effort to set up a process for sharing lessons learned with other consortium partners. To see all the CTSA submissions, click here.
NIH K Award Workshop Registration Now Open
RSVP is required by Dec. 13 for the Feb. 13 all-day workshop to be held at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. This popular workshop covers the NIH K award process, development of NIH K award proposals, the UCLA CTSI KL2 award process and an overview of CTSI resources. Participants have the opportunity to submit draft applications in advance of the workshop for review. Space is limited and fills quickly. Go here for details and registration.
UC ReX: a UC Shared Data Resource
UC Research eXchange and its UC ReX Data Explorer tool have launched, now providing researchers and specialists access to cohort counts derived from de-identified clinical data collected at the point of care to improve medical care and advance research. The tool enables exploration of a combined population of over 12 million patients from medical center databases at UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UCSD and UCSF. Start exploring UC ReX.
