Due Nov. 4, physician-scientists and junior researchers with 0-3 years of postdoctoral experience are encouraged to apply to this fellowship program which supports innovative research in the basic sciences and applied fields that advance the translation of biomedical science into treatments, preventions and cures for human diseases. Register for UCLA CTSI K to R Workshop
RSVP is required by Nov. 7 for the Dec. 12, all-day workshop, to be held on the Westwood campus. This popular workshop now addresses different topics regarding submitting R grant applications. During the afternoon session, faculty will review and discuss draft R grant plans/proposals submitted by K/CDA awardees and provide feedback on preparing successful R grant applications on an individual basis. NHLBI Awards UC CTSAs $12 million for Center for Accelerated Innovation
NHLBI has awarded a consortium of the five UC medical campuses a seven-year, $12-million award to create a Center for Accelerated Innovation (UC CAI). The Center will be based at UCLA and Mike Palazzolo, a Professor of Medicine at UCLA, is Center Director. The Center will incubate technologies with high potential to become commercially successful drugs, devices, diagnostics or tools to improve the health of patients with heart, lung and blood diseases. Innovators will receive pilot funds, mentorship and project-management support. Up to five technologies annually will be selected to enter the Center through a peer-review process. Drop-in Biostatistical Consults
Grant Preparation and Submission (Part II)
Running Oct. 10, this module made up of four workshops familiarizes trainees with preparing an NIH grant, a focus on composition and resubmission, what NIH study sections are and how they function and how to diversity one's portfolio with non-NIH sources of funding.
