Interested in Clinical Research Networking?
The Clinical and Translational Research Center-Westwood will be hosting monthly, informal clinical research networking seminars on the 4th Thursday of each month. The seminars will focus on providing opportunities for faculty and staff to network, discuss current interests, exchange best practices and hear from invited experts.  CTSI partner sites and all members of the clinical research community are invited to join. Circle of Life: Do Beginnings Predict the Ending?
Oct. 3 will be the first of this year's BioBasics Layman Seminar/Research Administrators' Campus Committee seminar series. Dr. Sherin Devaskar, Endowed Chair and Professor of Pediatrics and Co-Leader of the CTSI's Maternal Child and Adolescent Health Committee, will lead the presentation. Webinar: Competing for Funding from the National Science Foundation
This Oct. 8 webinar covers the NSF's mission, funding priorities, how NSF is organized, how proposals are reviewed, the types of projects funded by NSF and a step-by-step discussion of how to write a NSF proposal. Find remote and onsite details here.

Grant Preparation and Submission (Parts I & II)
Running Oct. 8 and 10, this module made up of four workshops familiarizes trainees with preparing an NIH grant, a focus on composition and resubmission, what NIH study sections are and how they function and how to diversity one's portfolio with non-NIH sources of funding. Prevention, Treatment & Control of Cancer in Our Community III 

This Sept. 27 community-academic dialogue includes presentations and panel discussions on cancer prevention, early detection, treatment and survivorship. Community members, caregivers, healthcare providers, students, faith-based organizations, researchers and people living with cancer are among those encouraged to attend. The UCLA-Caltech MSTP 2013 Annual Research Conference holds the The 5th Annual Stanley G. Korenman MSTP Lecture on Sept. 27. Talks will be led by Dr. Sandeep Robert Datta of Harvard University and Dr. Carla J. Shatz of Stanford University. See talk details here.
