CTSI Seeks Investigators to Pilot Clinical Research Data Warehouse  

CTSI invites UCLA faculty to pilot the University of California Research eXchange (UC- ReX), an electronic system for estimating the size of potential research study cohorts. Information currently available includes demographics, diagnosis, and procedures performed  on 11 million de-identified patients. Giannini Foundation Fellows

UCLA applicants were awarded three of the seven postdoctoral fellowships in the annual competition sponsored by the 62-year-old foundation. CTSI and DGSOM coordinated the application process. Details can be found here.

OIS Seminar Series: Clinical Research Registration Requirements
Lisa Federer, research informationist for the UCLA Biomedical Library, and Kyra Engelberg, CTSI regulatory analyst, will discuss NIH Public Access requirements and clinicaltrials.gov registration. Details about the May 20 seminar can be found here.
  
Entrepreneur-in-Residence Seminar Series
Sandra Itkoff and John Gillespie, Entrepreneurs-in-Residence with the UCLA Office of Intellectual Property, will provide practical advice on business planning and building a team for would-be biomedical entrepreneurs. Details about May 20 seminar can be found here.

 

Clinical Research Development Series
Part 4 of the series will cover  data standards and terminologies for clinical decision support. It will be held May 16 at UCLA and details can be found here. Part 5 in the series will cover practical tools for biomedical informatics. It is scheduled for May 23 at UCLA and details are available here. RSVP is requested for the events. UCLA Bioinformatics Library Seminars

A May 16 seminar will explain the new NIH Public Access Policy and penalties for non-compliance, and a May 22 seminar will deal with techniques for describing and organizing data to make it easier for others to find and understand.  Follow the links for details.

Training Program in Translational Science 
Deadline extended! The new registration deadline for the certificate program (track 2) and master of science program in clinical research (track 3) is May 31. Applications are accepted anytime for seminar modules (track 1). Click here for details.
  
CTSI-sponsored NIH K Award Workshop Registration
RSVP is required by May 31 for the July 25, all-day workshop, to be held on the Westwood campus. This popular workshop covers the NIH K award process, development of NIH K award proposals,  the UCLA CTSI KL2 award process, and an overview of CTSI resources. Participants have the opportunity to submit draft applications in advance of the workshop for review. Space is limited and this event fills quickly. Go here for complete details.
