FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES 
Clinical & Translational Research Center-Westwood Seed Grant Program
CTRC seed grants foster collaborations between UCLA investigators and the Westwood CTRC. Awards will provide a maximum of $30,000 for up to 18 months. Applicants must be UCLA faculty or hold a faculty position at a UCLA affiliate. Letters of Intent are due Apr. 16. Details can be found here.

Catalyst Awards 
Awards of $1,000 to $5,000 each support team-building activities that advance translational science and promote collaborations across disciplines and CTSI institutions. Deadline is Apr. 1. Details can be found here. 

 

Team Science Award in Translational Neuroscience
CTSI and the UCLA Neuroscience Community will fund one to two one-year proposals of up to $200K each. The deadline is Apr. 1. Additional information can be found here.
 
CTSI TL1 Summer Fellowships for Professional Students
There are 12 slots available for the eight-week program for dental, medical and nursing students from UCLA and Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science. Application deadline is Apr. 1. Details can be found here.

Investigators May Now Request CTSI Services Online

A user-friendly portal on the CTSI website allows investigators to request a variety of assistance, including biostatistical support, clinical research services, and matchmaking to foster new community or inter-institutional collaborations. A UCLA log-in ID is required and can be obtained here. Questions about the new service can be entered online or directed to CTSI research facilitators.

Office of Investigator Services Seminar Series

John Adams, MD, associate director of CTSI, and Isidro Salusky, MD, director of the CTSI Training Program in Translational Sciences, will discuss research and training opportunities for junior investigators. Details about the Mar. 25 event can be found here.

 

Seminars on Cost-Effectiveness Analysis

Gerald Kominski, PhD will provide an overview of technology assessment in medical care on Mar. 27 and discuss basic cost-effectiveness models and cost measurement on Mar. 28. The seminars will be held at UCLA and videoconferencing is available at Cedars-Sinai, Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science, and Los Angeles Biomedical Institute. Drug Development Series: From Bench to Clinic

UCLA Visiting Professor Michael Palazzolo, MD, PhD will discuss process mapping, including roadmaps, designing informatics, design systems and project management. REMINDERS
Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research Centers Special Interest Project Competitive Supplement 
UCLA/RAND Prevention Research Center, one of 30 such centers nationally, is coordinating submissions from UCLA and its affiliates for one-year, special interest supplements. CDC will award up to $1.49 million to an undetermined number of prevention research centers. Special project topic areas are cancer screening, tobacco control, physical activity promotion, and dementia/cognitive health. Only one application allowed through UCLA. Details can be found here.

Center for Autism and Treatment Pilots 

The one-year pilots provide up to $25K to foster interactions and interdisciplinary projects in basic and clinical areas of autism. The deadline is Mar. 25. Details and RFA are available here.

 

Medical Genetics T-32 Training Grant Call for Applications

The application deadline for this intercampus training program is Apr. 30. It is open to PhDs and MDs, but MDs are preferred. Additional information is available here.
