Pilots for Junior-Level Minority Faculty
The one-year pilots from CTSI and the UCLA-Charles Drew University Resource Center for Minority Aging Research/ Center for Health Improvement of Minority Elderly (RCMAR/CHIME) provide $40K each for research in aging, minority populations. Team Science Award in Translational Neuroscience

Investigators May Now Request CTSI Services Online
A user-friendly portal on the CTSI website allows investigators to request a variety of assistance, including biostatistical support, clinical research services, and matchmaking to foster new community or inter-institutional collaborations. A UCLA log-in ID is required and can be obtained here. Questions about the new service can be entered online or directed to CTSI research facilitators.

REMINDERS
Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research Centers Special Interest Project Competitive Supplement
UCLA/RAND Prevention Research Center, one of 30 such centers nationally, is coordinating submissions from UCLA and its affiliates for one-year, special interest supplements. CDC will award up to $1.49 million to an undetermined number of prevention research centers. Special project topic areas are cancer screening, tobacco control, physical activity promotion, and dementia/cognitive health. Only one application allowed through UCLA. D etails can be found here.
Value of Information (VOI) Approach to Evaluating Research
Roger J. Lewis, MD, PhD will lead this two-hour, seminar-style tutorial/discussion based on the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute's methodology background report on the VOI approach to evaluating research. Qualitative Research Seminar
The Mar. 19 installment of the Center for Maximizing Outcomes and Research on Effectiveness (CMORE) series features Mellissa Withers, MHS, PhD, an assistant researcher at the UCLA School of Dentistry and lecturer in the Department of Anthropology.
