Greetings!

 April is Poetry Month on KDB.  In honor of this beautiful season in Santa Barbara is a poem by Robert Frost entitled "A Prayer in Spring.":

OH, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
To which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends he will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.

Poetry Month on KDB

Airing throughout the month, we will be featuring local poets that will share some of their most memorable poems!  A few of these poets include: Former Poet Laureate of Santa Barbara, Perie Longo will share her piece "Art Helps". A writer, editor and poet, Pamela Davis will share "Amadeus Mon Amor" inspired by a performance in Paris, and dedicated to Mozart himself. Chryss Yost is not only an artist for the UCSB Library, but she is the newly crowned Poet Laureate of Santa Barbara. She will be reading her poem " Escaping Autopia", she was inspired by her own life patterns to write this poem. Each poet brings a little bit of their own personal experiences into their writing. Santa Barbara Symphony Presents:
Four Seasons

Get ready for a multimedia evening! Guest Conductor Gregory Vajda, who has fast become a sought-after conductor on the international scene, will conduct one of the most beloved pieces of baroque music.

 Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, a set of four concertos, ingeniously molds together depictions of delightfully characteristic weather reports. Staying with the season's theme is Glazunov's colorful ballet The Seasons, performed as a live painter, whose simultaneous creation will be projected on a screen. Join our musicians for an artistic feast!Saturday April 13th at 8pm and Sunday April 14th at 3pm. Find tickets at the symphony's website or at the granada's website.
