LA Press Club Award for KDB

KDB Features Produer Karen Pelland received a prestigious LA Press
Karen Pelland LA Press Club Award
Karen Pelland with her
LA Press Club award.
Club Award for Best Radio Feature on Sunday, June 24, before a packed audience in the elegant Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel.

The award is for her reporting of the  Santa Barbara Choral Society's "rolling requiem" performance of the Mozart Requiem, organized to commemorate the tenth anniversary of September 11.

We always knew that Karen is an especially talented jounralist, but it's great for her to receive this acclaim from her peers.  Renowned journalists Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward were also honored at the ceremony with the President's award, on the 40th anniversary of their reporting on the Watergate scandal.

Listen to Karen's award-winning feature, and keep a hankerchief nearby!

KDB Receives Generous Gift of CDs

Station Thrilled by Unexpected Present of 1,949 Discs

Steve Murphy with 1,949 CDs from Nancy Reichenbach
Steve Murphy with the 1,949 CDs.

Nancy Reichenbach was a supporter and huge fan of KDB. Following her passing we heard from her daughter, Christa, who, along with her siblings Brian, Alison, and Erich, thought that KDB should have their mother's CD collection.  We were thrilled to accept it.  Here'a a note from Nancy's children:

"Our mother, Nancy Reichenbach, passed away in early 2012. Nancy was a special education teacher for the Pleasant Valley School District in Camarillo for more than thirty years.  Her love of teaching and education is her true legacy.  She also loved classical music, African violets, and books. Her house was filled with all these things.  Nancy had an extensive collection of classical music CDs.  KDB Radio graciously accepted this collection from us.  We wanted her music to continue to be enjoyed as much as our mother enjoyed it.  A special thanks to Ellen Pasternack and Steve Murphy for helping make this donation happen."

And from our own Music Director and Morning Host, Steve Murphy:

"Classical 93.7 KDB is fortunate to have a donation of this size to add to our music library.   We are thrilled to receive this eclectic collection of recordings.  I want to especially thank Christa Brousseau, one of Nancy's daughters, for making this possible. I look forward to sorting and organizing these discs and finding many gems that we will put on our airwaves!"
