Suzette Kimball, nominee for director of the U.S. Geological Survey, promised, if she were confirmed for the position, to update the USGS study of recoverable oil reserves in the Williston Basin. 
North Dakota economy slumped in second quarter as oil prices plummeted

North Dakota's economy slowed down in the second quarter of this year, posting the first double-digit decrease in year-over-year taxable sales and purchases since 2009 as slumping oil prices hurt drilling and the businesses that support it.

Board approves permit for Burke refinery

The Burke County Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved an unlimited conditional use permit for the purpose of oil refining to Ash, Inc. of Simi Valley, Calif., at their public hearing and meeting Oct. 19.
