State health officials gave their blessing Tuesday to new rules that would allow the disposal of filter socks and other radioactive oilfield waste in certain North Dakota landfills, stoking fears among opponents that the state will become a dumping ground for other states.

CHS Inc. pulls plug on planned $3 billion N.D. fertilizer plant
 
Giant agriculture-energy cooperative CHS Inc. has decided against construction of a proposed $3 billion fertilizer plant near Spiritwood, N.D., instead opting to buy a $2.8 billion interest in nitrogen fertilizer maker CF Industries Nitrogen LLC, allowing CHS to purchase as much as 1.7 tons of fertilizer annually.

Continental Resources said on Thursday it ships more than two-thirds of its North Dakota oil via pipeline, a major change that threatens the oil transportation business of BNSF Railway and other railroads which had boomed in recent years.
