Dalrymple: Lower oil prices may slow growth, but won't stop it

North Dakota is "stronger than ever," and depressed oil prices shouldn't prevent the state from boosting tax relief and continuing the progress made on roads, housing and other priorities, Gov. Jack Dalrymple said Tuesday in his State of the State Address.

Richardton, Tioga tapped for new wind projects
Basin Electric Power Cooperative plans to purchase 300 megawatts of power from two new wind farm projects in North Dakota.  One is the Dickinson Wind Energy Center, located near Richardton and developed by NextEra Energy Resources of Florida, and the second is the Lindahl Wind Project near Tioga, to be developed by Tradewind Energy of Kansas. Each project is 150 megawatts.  The Richardton project is expected to be online in 2015, while the Tioga project will go online in 2016.  Paul Sukut, Basin general manager, said the new wind projects will increase the cooperative's renewable energy sources to 1,400 megawatts, including wind agreements it signed in 2013.  "As we develop plans to meet our members' energy needs, we have not discounted any options that will keep our member rates low," Sukut said.
