The U.S. has long been the largest consumer of oil, but now it's also the world's biggest oil producer.  A new report says the U.S. has surpassed all other countries this year in oil production.

'Micro refineries' a solution to oil-train woes, energy firm says

A handful of small refineries in North Dakota could remove dangerous gas from oil train cargoes and make shipments from the state's productive Bakken shale area safer on the tracks, according to a company which has pitched the idea to regulators.

Hess Corp. announces $5 million donation to UND

UND received a $7.5 million donation Thursday to fund the building of a Collaborative Energy Complex for the College of Engineering and Mines.

Additionally, Governor Jack Dalrymple  announced a $2.5 million match from the North Dakota Higher Education Challenge Fund. The funding will support the construction of UND's new Collaborative Energy Complex.

 

"This is an exciting day, not only for the University of North Dakota, but for our entire state," Dalrymple said in a press release. UND has raised of $11.8 million toward the project goal of $15.5 million.

The North Dakota Public Service Commission unanimously approved permitting construction on a massive wind farm near Hebron, N.D., on Monday.

Adams County commissioners on Thursday unanimously approved permits for the new layout of a $350 million wind farm near Hettinger.
