Message From the President
|
Time for Women to step up our Game Cassandra Pye, President, CA Women Lead
President, 3.14 Communications
Last month, I stepped into the role of President for California Women Lead (www.cawomenlead.org), the only statewide, nonpartisan women's organization in California with a commitment to providing women with the training and support they need to be successful in the political arena. It's an honor I don't take lightly and, while the title sounds impressive and my-mother-would-have-been-proud, it's mostly a lot of work. Pressing for equity in the political marketplace remains a heavy lift. If you take a quick glance at our state board, though, you'll understand why I'm optimistic. It's full of political rock stars.

California Women Lead In The News
|
In Case You Missed It...
Our CEO Rachel Michelin was quoted in a great piece this week that appeared in Calmatters, a nonprofit start-up that covers politics, parties and personalities in Sacramento. The feature, entitiled "Female lobbying firm thrives in male-dominated Capitol" written by Former Sacramento Bee Reporter Laurel Rosenhall highlighted an all-women lobbying firm in Sacramento that has risen among the top 20 lobbying firms out of 300 registered in California. Still, however, politics continues to be very much an insider ball game and most of those insiders are men. Read more here.

California Women Lead has a survey we are asking everyone to take a few minutes to fill out. Your responses will help us plan for the rest of 2016 as well as current events and trainings underway. Thank you for your time - your feedback is important to us!

We are considering hosting a series of campaign boot camps as part of our 50/50 Project to increase the number of women in elected office. The California 50/50 Project, a nonpartisan project under the California Women Lead brand, is focused on increasing the number of women serving in elected office.
Sessions, taught by political professionals from both parties, cover topics such as - The Elements of a Successful Campaign, Social Media, Fundraising and Grassroots Organizing. Sessions provide candidates with vital information to develop, manage, and execute a successful campaign, and allows candidates to extend their networks throughout the state.
Women who attend The California 50/50 Project boot camp will also be eligible to attend follow up, on-line trainings focusing on Media Training, Advanced Grassroots Campaign and Preparing and Mastering Campaign Questionnaires and Interviews. Only women who attend a boot camp can attend the advanced sessions. Each session is limited to 30 participants and members of California Women Lead will be given priority registration.
