It Is YOUR Time: Women Taking Action

Hosted by California Women Lead, California Commission on the Status of Women, City of West Hollywood, and NWPC LA-Westside

Breakfast Discussion: Do women really matter in elected office? We'll tell you the importance of why we need women! Join Wendy Greuel and Jan Perry, both candidates for Mayor of LA in a discussion moderated by West Hollywood City Councilwoman Abbe Land. 

 

Session 1: We know that you already have what it takes to run for elected office - we will show you how! Walk through a personal assessment of the skills you already have with CA Women Lead State Board of Director Vice President Teri Burns and CA Women Lead CEO Rachel Michelin.

Luncheon Panel: A discussion on the future of Los Angeles under redistricted seats and how it affects women. Where are the opportunities, what will be the challenges? How can women get involved? Join a lively discussion with Mary Wiberg, the CA Commission on the Status of Women; Rachel Michelin, CA Women Lead CEO; Serena Josel, Planned Parenthood LA Director of Public Affairs; and Lindsay Bubar, NWPC LA-Westside President.

Session 2: Social Media - how you can utilize your established social media outlets to help get elected. Social Media Stragestist & Manager Rebecca Simon will provide you with tips on how to use social networking to fundraise, develop coalitions and help put together a successful campaign.

Session 3: Do women really matter in elected office? We'll tell you the importance of why we need women! And help you understand the impact women have on public policy.  Join Mary Hughes, nationally known political consultant who has researched the impact women have in elected office and will share why women are critical in elected office and on appointed boards throughout the state.  As the founder and director of The 2012 Project, Mary will share her insight on why 2012 is the year for women to take ACTION!

Tickets are $35 at the door. Includes light breakfast and boxed lunch.

Over 150 guests, including many members of the State Legislature as well as the Speaker of the California State Assembly and the President Pro Tem of the State Senate, joined the CA Women Lead State Board of Directors at our 2nd Annual MOVER Awards Summer Reception.  This year, CA Women Lead handed out five awards including Appointed Woman of the Year - Patricia Lock Dawson, Elected Woman of the Year Kristen Schreder and Woman of the Year Mary Wiberg.  CA Women Lead also inducted two new women into our "Women Leader Hall of Fame" - Helen Thomson and Barbara Patrick, both of whom served as past presidents of CA Women Lead.  Executive Director/CEO Rachel Michelin was also recognized by the California Legislative Women's Caucus with at State Resolution for her ten year anniversary at CA Women Lead.
