Fun Fishing Day
The third annual Fun Fishing Day will be held at the Pelican Rest Marina the second weekend of October.  We are excited to host the children of the Ronald McDonald House AND the children of Shriner's Hospital of Galveston this year!

The children and their families will spend the morning fishing with Club volunteers who will help them bait their hooks, reel in their fish and keep track of their winning catches.  They will also be treated to a delicious lunch prepared by the Cool Cookers team.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
Sponsorships are available for the Fun Fishing Day!  If you are interested in donating to the event, contributing your time, or becoming a Fun Fishing Day Sponsor, please contact the Club at 409-744-2307. The deadline for sponsorships is Wednesday, October the 1st.

The Billfish Foundation

The National Marine Fisheries Service issued the Final Environmental Impact Statement The Billfish Foundation (FEIS) for Amendment 7 for bluefin tuna management on August 29 and contained very promising preferred alternatives to promote conservation. The FEIS will undergo another 30 day comment period before the final rule is implemented, but TBF is very pleased with the preferred alternatives which will increase BFT conservation efforts and subsequently billfish conservation efforts, especially in the Gulf. As part of the preferred alternatives, longline restricted areas will be created in the Gulf for the months of April through May as well as requiring the mandatory retention of legal-size bluefin which total landings will be limited per vessel. Additionally, a separate sub-quota for Trophy bluefin tuna for gulf anglers would be established to increase opportunities to land incidentally caught fish. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].
