Scholarship Recipient, Victor Garcia
I would like to thank your organization for providing me with funding for this fall semester. With your assistance I have been able to continue my scholastic and professional endeavors without having to worry as much about various costs of living.
I am planning to graduate with the Master's of Science in Counseling with emphasis in marriage and family therapy this upcoming August. For over a year now I have been providing individual, couple, family, and group counseling services at a local substance abuse rehabilitation center. This work has truly been inspiring and seems to be my ultimate calling.
It is because of organizations like yours that underprivileged, yet enthusiastic students like myself are able to progress through college without incurring large debts with ridiculous interest rates. I am honored that you selected my application and am grateful that you have such a program in place.

News from The Billfish Foundation
The Billfish Foundation is excited to announce TBF's new Tag and Release Database (www.tagbillfish.org). Completely overhauled since the first version, the new tag and release database acts as a virtual logbook, keeping track of all of your billfish tags and releases that you have ever reported to TBF. If you reported a tagged blue marlin years ago, you can sign in and see the details from where you tagged that fish and see if it was ever recaptured. Streamlining the data entry process, it now takes less than a minute to report your catches to TBF to further TBF's research and education efforts. Making TBF's tagging data completely transparent for research and education, the database has an Explore section that allows you to search the entire database for anything you would want to know about TBF's tag and release efforts. With several additions coming down the pipeline, we hope you take a couple minutes to sign up and whenever you get back from a successful billfishing trip, login and report your releases!

Captain's Corner
Wahoo season is once again upon us. Lets all remember to be conservative and save the large breeders and let the little Whee-hoos grow up. With today's smaller, faster boats able to reach the Wahoo fishing spots, there are too many fishermen going out taking large numbers, making it easy to overfish without realizing it. So remember challenge seekers, trying to release a Wahoo is more challenging than throwing them in the box!
