The Billfish Foundation
TBG is extremely excited to announce the redevelopment of their Tag and Release Online Database! The database, originally debuting in November of 2011 has been completely revamped to make the user experience not only more enjoyable, but also more interactive. The goal of our database is to provide anglers, captains, and the general public an interface that will allow them to interact with their personal tag and release data as well as provide them a gateway to explore the information that has been gained from TBF's 22-year old tagging program which has become the backbone of TBF's advocacy work. The interactive map will allow you to visually see all the details of your catch history as well as recapture tracks from billfish that have been recaptured. The new database will allow you to upload videos and photos of each catch and let you show off your catches by sharing on both Facebook and Twitter. The launch date is expected for Memorial Day 2013 and beta-testing is well under way. If you are interested in becoming a beta-test or have any questions, please email tag@billfish.org. Captain's Corner
Having trouble finding a second or third person to work the cockpit on overnight trips? You already have your anglers and captain, why not bring a young rookie to help? Use him/her for every trip to keep the cockpit clean and organized. Show them how to gaff a fish, tie some knots or grab the leader. It only takes one season to train someone. Next season you'll have someone you can trust on the wheel watch. So make a little room and buy an extra steak, it will be worth it later. |
