Great Advice
    
"Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry." James 1:19 (NLT)
 
James gives some great advice when he tells us we should be QUICK to listen, SLOW to speak, and SLOW to get angry. What sorrow and grief we would save ourselves if we took this advice and applied it to every area of our life. It would seem to reason that since God gave us to ears and one mouth He expects us to do twice as much listening as He does talking. And anger, it is such a spontaneous emotion, that it causes many of God's children to fall to ruins in a blink of an eye with little to no thought. Learning to bridle our emotions by "biting our tongue" could ease many of the headaches and problems we cause for ourselves.
 
The Bible admonishes us to always acknowledge God in every situation we face, and allow Him to direct us. Regardless of the situation our custom should be to always look to God for the appropriate response. We should trust the Lord to guide our words and actions always. But, to do this, we are going to have to purpose in our heart to always look to the Lord for guidance. We must make a habit out of holding our tongue until the Lord gives us words to speak, and peace in our heart to speak those words. Let us always respond in love, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to every situation!
